Major project secured – Ark Soane, Acton

Jerram Falkus Construction is delighted to announce that we have secured a contract with Countryside and the Department for Education, to deliver a £52m design and build project, constructing a combined education and residential development in Acton. LocatED Property Ltd, an arms-length body to the Department for Education, acted for the landowner (the Secretary of State for Education), as part of their role to secure sites and buildings for new schools in order to deliver much-needed school places.

The Ark Soane mixed-use development will see the construction of; part 3, part 6, part 7, part 8, part 11 and part 13 level buildings reaching 70m tall, including a basement level. Ground, first and second floors will accommodate phase 2 of Ark Soane Academy, a new 1200 place secondary School, with 113 residential properties constructed on the upper levels, in addition to three separate townhouses on the site.

Enabling works commenced on site in February 2021, and we will be on-site for a period of 105 weeks, with the new Ark Soane Academy due to open by September 2022.

Our Joint Managing Director, William Jerram said, “We are delighted to be working with Countryside and LocatED to deliver this exciting scheme. We thank our design team, led by Pollard Thomas Edwards, together with Max Fordham, Price and Myers, Montague Evans and Outerspace. To ensure its success, we have worked very closely to redesign the external envelope to comply with the latest ‘B’ regulations and simultaneously progress the design and programme to deliver the School for the 2022 academic year. It involved a lot of commitment and work at risk, with the reward of starting works in February 2021.”
