MP visits to Roxwell Road and Golders Green Road
16/12/2024
Jerram Falkus were delighted to host not one but two MP visits last Friday.
Heading East to Roxwell Road
The first took place at our Roxwell Road site where the Nesil Caliskan MP for Barking had a look round our Roxwell Road project. Elected in July, Nesil is visiting has been visiting as many
communities as she can as she wants to hear and see what is taking place within her new constituency. She is keen to hear about challenges, good news, changes in areas of Barking. On hearing about our scheme, she was keen to find out more of the project and asked if she could visit it herself.
This was an amazing opportunity for us to showcase what we do, tell of our corporate local history, highlight the challenges that the construction industry faces. We were also able to introduce her to colleagues, recruited locally to highlight our passionate commitment to supporting local people into employment, and our connection with the community.
After introductions over tea, coffee and biscuits, Assistant Site Manager, Ciaran Kelly delivered a site induction and spoke about the project as well as Jerram Falkus’ history. We then introduced Nesil to Harry and Ryan, two colleagues who have been employed on the project from the local community.
Then it was time to don PPE and head out onto the site. Ciaran Kelly led us around answering questions and explaining aspects of the project.
What is happening on the site?
The project design and construction of 87 new homes, including 80 flats across four blocks and seven townhouses, with ten homes specially adapted for disabled residents, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
Much of the brickwork to the apartment blocks is now complete. Over the next month we will be installing copings to Blocks A and B and starting to dismantle the scaffolding that surrounds these two new buildings. Internal works are continuing at pace across the site such as dry lining, Mechanical & Electrical works, carpentry and screeding.
Heading North West
Meanwhile, across London, we were honoured to welcome Sarah Sackman MP for Finchley and Golders Green for a walk around our Golders Green Road project.
The project is seeing the design and construction of a six-storey block of 22 flats in a mixture of sizes from one to four bedrooms.
Much of the Metsec is now in place and the brickwork façade is well advanced. Works have also begun on the installation of window frames.
Sarah was welcomed to the site by Joint Managing Director Jonathan Jerram, Site Manager, Barry Cook, Chaya Spitz, Chief Executive of Agudas Israel Housing Association and Malcolm Ward who is Director at Askival who are the Employer’s Agents for the project.
Sarah is looking at a number of sites in her constituency and given the strong community focus for the project on Golders Green Road, she was keen to see our work.
Sarah reflected on the importance of projects which deliver desperately needed housing for local communities and said “it’s an absolute pleasure to be out here seeing this project with you all”.
