The construction of 23 new build homes, a mixture of one and two bed flats and 17 houses with up to three bedrooms with garages and useful storage space in the under croft of the six flats. The development includes the refurbishment of an Grade II listed Mill which will become a shared space for a range of social and domestic activities, and a base for community events.
The design team is led by one of the co-housing members, Anne Thorne, an award-winning eco-architect. The buildings are designed and to be built to ‘Passivhaus’ standards to achieve exceptionally low running costs, and sustainable comfort and health. The Cannock Mill project is designed to Lifetime Homes Standards which incorporates design features that increase ease of access throughout the home in order that the properties are adaptable to their residents needs.
