Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School

The site is situated off Butterfly Lane, Elstree within the bounds of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School The site posed logistical challenges due to its woodland location nearly 1 kilometre from the  school entrance, across school playing fields and unmade tracks. It was also extremely close to Elstree Aerodrome which required special approvals of our procedures for cranage and lifting.  Logistics were further challenged by the narrow, winding Butterfly Lane being densely trafficked during school drop off and pick uptimes, and a cut-through generally, where large vehicles required the majority of the road width.

 

The project consists of the construction of a new build sports facility comprising a 25m 8-lane swimming pool, fitness suite, dance studios, administration rooms, multi- use rooms, kitchen, toilets, plant room, offices and external works and service connections. A new build steel frame constructed two/double storey building on piled foundations, pre-cast plank floors and cast-insitu waterproof concrete pool and basement plant areas.  Facades are of cavity masonry, Trespa Rainscreen cladding and glazed curtain walling with a Kalzip profiled metal roof system and external works and service connections.
