Hounslow Town Primary School, Hounslow

As a new build construction company, Hounslow Town Primary was one of our most prestigious education projects, the £20m new build school project has provided a new five-form entry primary school just off the High Street in Hounslow, within site of wider housing development.

Our reinforced concrete framed, brick clad school building is part two and part three-storey. Our new build developers comprised the construction of the new building on land adjacent to the original school. Once the new school building was complete all students and staff were decanted into the new building and the existing school building was demolished and part landscaped as school playground and sports facilities. There is SEN provision within the new build school which has been fit-out with specialist equipment as required. The external Staff Terrace is flexible and can become an outdoor area for SEN use, which has a glass balustrade to increase the height of the parapet allowing students to play safely in this area.

As the school is directly under the Heathrow flight path, it cannot be naturally ventilated due to external noise constraints. Instead, it is fully mechanically ventilated via VRF ceiling concealed fan coil units. Using IES software, a fully compliant design solution has been produced which takes into account over-shading analysis and daylight assessments in calculating the heating and cooling loads, in order that cooling is only provided where absolutely necessary.

When our building construction firm completed the School project, our client, Countryside Properties PLC then commenced works on site of the orginal school on a housing development to provide 250 mixed-tenure homes.
