East End Thames View, Barking

Our new build builders worked on the redevelopment of the eastern end of the Thames View Estate in Barking, providing 276 high quality affordable homes. The development was achieved without grant-funding or cross-subsidy and made possible via a private investment model designed to enable social regeneration.

The works of our new build builders involved the construction of five apartment blocks running north to south along the eastern boundary adjacent to Renwick Road, each four storeys high. Town Houses are grouped in terraces and courtyard clusters across the remainder of the site and are three storeys. Family housing consists of four and three beds and is evenly distributed across the site. The design and build development for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and developer Explore Investments, a Laing O’Rourke Company is a 100% affordable home scheme of 151 family houses, 35 duplex flats and 90 one and two bedroom flats. The original 1950’s nine-storey tower blocks and poor quality low-rise stock were demolished. The tenancies will be nominated and managed by the Council.
