The Anning Rooms, Natural History Museum, South Kensington

An exclusive suite of rooms available for use by Members’ and Patrons’ Room as part of the Natural History Museum’s new membership strategy. Our company conducted the refurbishment in the Grade I listed Waterhouse Building on the central axis of the Natural History Museum’s primary frontage, with works to the towers on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

The remodelling and refurbishment work by our company on this project includes; the Welcoming Reception lobby, a restaurant, kitchen and wash up areas, a bar and lounge, informal study space and reading room and events space, new WC and passenger lift and a new environmentally controlled storage room to house a Botany Specimen Collection.

Access to the spaces is via the second floor of Hintze Hall with some of the works undertaken above areas frequented by both visitors and staff, which remained occupied during the works. The consultation was required with key stakeholders to identify works that needed to be carried out outside opening hours (including working around evening events) and identification of temporary works or closure of any adjacent areas. and conservation of the building’s listed fabric which acts as the gateway to the Museum.
