Wivenhoe Road, Dagenham

Our company worked on our second modular housing construction project for Barking and Dagenham and will provide 20 new two-bedroom containerised homes.

We prepared the groundwork ready for the delivery of the 20 two-bedroom modular homes from Premier Modular’s factory in East Yorkshire. Once installed, commissioning and landscaping took place and we completed the project within 30 weeks, ready for March 2021. By using off-site construction we were able to deliver these new homes faster and more efficiently to the client, on what would be a challenging site to develop using standard construction methods.

The Wivenhoe development is part of a wider programme in Barking and Dagenham that will deliver new homes to house local homeless people and families. These properties will be used for emergency or temporary housing for families who would otherwise be forced into an expensive and insecure hostel and other temporary accommodation, in and outside the borough.

We were joined on-site by Cllr Saima Ashraf, Deputy Leader for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, to see the first pre-fabricated units delivered to the site in October 2020.

Cllr Ashraf said, “These new homes will be for local families who are on our council waiting list and have no permanent home. By using the latest modular technology we can build at a pace so we can put a roof over their heads more quickly.”
