Steady progress, rigorous health and safety

We have been making steady progress at our Regent Street project for the University of Westminster where many of those roofs are complete.

The project is highly complex and, as is common with historic buildings, has thrown us some surprises – such as a hidden fireplace!

Over the coming months we will be undertaking essential additional structural repairs to the rear external façade.

This will involve a lot of exposing brickwork and steelwork. We also need to rip out two fire escape stairways as in their current state, and even with minor repairs, they would not comply with today’s rigorous health and safety regulations. The work to replace these staircases will allow our team to continue work safely as well as ensuring effective and compliant escape routes in the years to come.

As the work progresses some of the scaffolding is coming down allowing this splendid building to once again, be seen and admired by the many people who traverse Regent Street.
